A shooting inside a Las Vegas Strip amusement park left three people wounded and a possible shooter was in custody Saturday night, according to Metro Police.

The victims, who were hospitalized, were expected to be OK, said Capt. Dori Koren, who described the violent act as an isolated incident, which began as a fight.

Gunshots erupted about 7:30 p.m. in The Adventuredome at Circus Circus, 2880 Las Vegas Blvd. S.

The shooting was the culmination of a fight between two groups, said Koren, who didn’t immediately know the ages of the victims or the shooter, noting that there were young people involved.

Medics arrived quickly to take the victims to area hospitals, where they were listed in “stable condition,” Koren said. The scene remained active three hours after the shooting, with Metro cruisers blocking some vehicle entrances.

A small portion of Circus Circus was blocked off as the probe was ongoing, Koren said. Police weren’t sure on what led to the fight.

The shooting puts a damper on Metro’s efforts to fight crime on the tourist corridor that’s seen a series of large brawls and shootings since the Strip reopened this summer following COVID-19-related shutdowns in Nevada.

Before Saturday night, there hadn’t been any shootings on the Strip since early October, as Metro and its law enforcement partners have placed increased resources in the area.

Tourism activity has increased while violence has begun to decrease, Koren said.

Like in past weekends, the Strip was being patrolled by an increase in officers, which allowed for them to respond immediately, Koren said.

Law enforcement partners and elected officials are “working very hard to get Vegas back to where it was before we shut down and before all the other issues in 2020 came up, and we’ve had tremendous success to get it back to somewhat normal,” Koren said. However, it’s “not enough yet.”
