A person was found dead today after a house fire in the east valley, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

The fire was reported about 12:20 p.m. in the 6400 block of Jackrabbit Run Avenue, east of Boulder Highway and Flamingo Road.

Firefighters reported heavy fire on the second floor and that a person was possibly trapped in the home, officials said. They searched and found one person deceased inside, officials said.

No additional information was released about the person's identity or cause of death.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, officials said.

Firefighters had the blaze largely extinguished within about 20 minutes, officials said. Las Vegas Fire & Rescue assisted.
