I live part-time in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., one of the reddest parts of one of the reddest states. I would posit that 99% of my neighbors are Republicans, and we simply don’t discuss politics. However, I am Facebook friends with some of them, and they freely express their ardent support for President Donald Trump.
One recurring complaint they have is how badly Trump has been treated. What?! Just the opposite has occurred. His aberrant, corrupt, depraved and delusional behavior has been normalized. Here is someone who has divided the country, stoked racial discord, torn children from parents, destroyed alliances, torn down various institutions, cozied up to Russia, and told over 20,000 lies.
Trump has had too much support and enabling, not only from Republican accomplices but also a media that repeats his lies and distortions for entertainment and ratings.
