Metro Police vehicles block a road in a neighborhood near Spencer Street and Richmar Drive Friday, Sept. 9, 2020. A possible hit-and-run suspect was in a standoff with officers in the neighborhood, police said.

A dispute between a group of residents at a Las Vegas apartment complex turned physical and then deadly Saturday night when a woman pulled out a gun and shot a man, according to Metro Police.

The woman fled the scene, leaving her two children behind, Lt. Ray Spencer said Saturday night. She was only described as a Black woman in her mid-30s.

The shooting occurred about 6:20 p.m. in the 2900 block of Marlin Avenue, near Eastern and Stewart avenues, Spencer said.

Neighbors began arguing and then fighting, said Spencer, noting that one of the residents pulled out a gun and shot the man.

It wasn’t clear what sparked the deadly fight Saturday, or how many people were involved, but Spencer said past arguments had been a result of complaints about a dog’s barking.

Clark County Child Protective Services took custody of the suspect’s children.
