Pedestrian hit by car, critically injured

A pedestrian was hit by a car and critically injured Sunday night while crossing a street in the northeast valley, according to Metro Police.

The incident happened about 8:40 p.m. on Owens Avenue at North 23rd Street, police said. The pedestrian was outside of a marked crosswalk when she was hit, police said.

The female, who has not been identified, was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment, police said. Nobody in the car was injured, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
