The number of passengers arriving or departing the Las Vegas airport in March climbed to about 2.5 million, up from 1.6 million in February, according to the Clark County Department of Aviation.

Last month’s figure — 2,575,582 — was up 25% from March 2020, the month Nevada began a two-month-plus shutdown of casinos and other nonessential businesses because of the coronavirus pandemic.

In February 2020, before the pandemic, nearly 3.9 million passengers passed through McCarran International Airport, which is in the process of being renamed for former U.S. Sen. Harry Reid.

Through the first three months of this year, McCarran welcomed just under 5.7 million passengers, a 44% drop from the first quarter of 2020.
