About half of eligible Nevadans have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to a report today by Nevada Health Response.

According to the report, 60.5% of Nevada residents 12 and older have received at least one dose of vaccine. The shot is available to anyone 12 or older and is free.

“This is an incredible milestone to reach, and I am so thankful to everyone who made the choice to protect themselves, their family and their community by getting the COVID-19 vaccine,” Gov. Steve Sisolak said in a statement. "I urge everyone who has been vaccinated to tell a friend, family member or loved one about the importance of vaccination and encourage them to get their shot too.”

As of Thursday, 56.99% of Clark County residents were fully vaccinated, with 70.32% of those 18 and older fully vaccinated and 65.30% of people 12 and older fully vaccinated.

There have been 2,270,648 doses of vaccine administered, according to the Southern Nevada Health District.

On Wednesday, the Biden administration recommended booster shots for people eight months after their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. The third shots would be available starting Sept. 20.

“We just need to finish the job with science, with facts and with confidence," President Joe Biden said.
