The longtime leader of a Las Vegas church was arrested earlier this month on counts of lewdness with at least one child, Metro Police said Monday.
Fermin Rangel-Ramos was taken into custody on Aug. 11 on a warrant that lists two felony counts of lewdness with a child between ages 14 and 15, and three gross misdemeanor counts of lewdness, Las Vegas Justice Court logs show.
The alleged crimes occurred in November 2019, logs show.
A day after his arrest, the 52-year-old suspect posted $50,000 in bail and was released on high-monitoring house arrest and under the condition that he have no contact with children, logs show.
Records show and police said that Rangel-Ramos was the “presiding pastor” of Iglesia Centro Cristiano Bethel, a Christian church located at 3600 Vegas Drive, near Rancho Drive, for 20 years.
State records, which lists Rangel-Ramos as the president, treasurer and secretary of the nonprofit, show that the church was founded in September 2001. The active nonprofit status was last updated in 2018.
Rangel-Ramos’ listed attorney could not be reached for comment after business hours Monday.
Rangel-Ramos is next due in court for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 4, logs show.
