A job fair at the Las Vegas Convention Center on Tuesday has already resulted in 251 positions being filled, state officials said.

It’s expected that hundreds more applicants will be hired for various positions in the coming weeks, the Governor’s Office of Economic Development said.

The one-day JobFest attracted over 2,100 attendees.

About 180 employers, including state agencies, casino companies and brands like Amazon, Walgreens and Starbucks, participated.

Amazon interviewed over 200 people and said it expects to hire at least 50 applicants before the end of the month.

Lisa Campos, an Amazon spokeswoman, said the job fair was “a great opportunity for our hiring team to connect with the community and hear from job-seekers first-hand as we continue to grow in the Las Vegas Valley.”

The Office of Economic Development, Nevada JobConnect and the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation organized the event.

Nevada’s unemployment rate is about 7.3%, compared to a national rate of 4.2%.

“My administration is committed to continuing to work across sectors to make sure that Nevadans have access to job-training programs and employment opportunities,” Gov. Steve Sisolak said in a statement.
