Young man dies after shooting at southwest valley apartments

Metro Police were investigating the shooting death of a young man Tuesday afternoon in a southwest Las Vegas apartment complex.

The victim, described as an adult in his late teens, died at University Medical Center, Lt. Ray Spencer said.

Gunfire exploded about 4 p.m. in the complex in the 8900 block of Warm Springs Road, near Durango Drive, Spencer said.

The victim drove to the complex and met up with two other males, Spencer said. At some point, an altercation broke out and the shooter opened fire.

The incident occurred in the parking lot near the leasing office, said Spencer, noting tonight that the investigation remained in its preliminary stages.

It wasn’t clear how the trio were connected to the complex, and Spencer didn’t have information on a possible motive or the suspected shooter, who fled.
