Woman dies after suffering injuries in Las Vegas house fire

A fire that ravaged a bedroom of a central Las Vegas house late Tuesday proved fatal for a woman, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue.

The blaze was reported about 11:55 p.m. in the 300 block of Vandalia Street, near Rancho and Alta drives.

Crews found the unconscious victim after extinguishing the fire, which shot heavy smoke and flames from the bedroom, officials said.

The woman, who was hospitalized for burns and smoke inhalation, died Wednesday night, officials said.

Working smoke alarms alerted family members about the flames, but by the time they tried to help the victim, “the fire was too intense,” officials said.

No one else was injured, although two people were displaced, officials said. Monetary damage was estimated at $50,000.

The cause remained “undetermined,” officials said.
