Woman, 77, dies after being hit by motorcycle

A 77-year-old woman died after she was hit by a motorcycle Thursday while crossing Boulder Highway, near Twain Avenue, according to Metro Police.

The motorcycle was southbound on Boulder, just north of Twain, about 5:45 p.m. when it hit the woman, who was wearing dark clothing and outside of a marked crosswalk, police said.

The motorcycle overturned and the rider was thrown off, police said.

The pedestrian, a Las Vegas resident, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said. Her name was not released, pending notification of family.

The motorcyclist, a 58-year-old Las Vegas man, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
