I grew up in a large, Italian family living in a house that had but one bathroom. I am old enough to remember that in my early years, that bathroom was simply an outhouse.
Today, as a retiree, my wife and I have lodging that includes two full bathrooms, which is one more than we need but it’s nice to offer accommodations for visitors.
As I understand it, Ivanka Trump and her husband live in a house with six bathrooms. But they could not find one to offer taxpayer-paid Secret Service officers assigned to protect them. The Secret Service had to lease an apartment nearby so its staff had access to bathroom facilities.
I find this an affront to the U.S. taxpayer, stupidity when it comes to the meaning of physical protection, and a simple lack of human sensitivity on the part of the Trump family. Both of them better hope they are never in need of social grace on the part of another human being.
