As someone in a state expected to be struck hard by climate change, I strongly support the push for the American Jobs Plan and its efforts to develop a clean energy infrastructure plan.
I’m excited to see our country invest in clean energy and expand our domestic manufacturing to achieve 100% clean power by 2035. This investment will also create new, well-paying union jobs for Americans. And, with ensuring that 40% of all investment benefits are directed to frontline communities and communities of color, this plan will help make sure our recovery rebuilds a more equitable society.
In addition, I am impressed with the commitment to the large-scale investment into electric vehicles, especially with the president’s Clean Buses for Kids Program through the Environmental Protection Agency, which ensures that our children, especially in low-income communities and communities of color who are most exposed to air pollution, have a basic right to breathe clean air. The commitment to providing clean, safe, affordable water to everyone, no matter their ZIP code, race or income, is crucial to create healthy and thriving communities and an environmentally just society.
By combining solutions to address climate change, the economy and social equity, we can move our country toward progress and growth.
