A computer network glitch today caused the cancelation of about 500 Southwest Airlines flights, some of them arrivals or departures at the Las Vegas airport, the company said.
“It’s fair to say there’s been at least some cancelations in Las Vegas,” said a Southwest spokesman, who could not provide more specifics. Flight delays were also reported, he said.
Southwest tweeted about 1 p.m. that a system issue had created flight disruptions around the country. The airline said it was “in the process of resuming normal operations.”
Southwest is the largest airline by volume servicing McCarran International Airport. More than 1 million Southwest passengers passed through the airport in April, according to the Clark County Department of Aviation.
An airport spokesman said he did not have any additional information about the situation.
