A suspect fatally shot a woman Wednesday night in a northwest Las Vegas apartment in what Metro Police said was the “result of a love triangle.”

Shamiya Chanese Todd, 28, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of murder, police said Thursday.

The shooting occurred shortly before 10 p.m. in the 8900 block of Jaquita Avenue, near Durango Drive and Elkhorn Road, police said.

Officers arrived to find a screaming Todd on an upstairs balcony, police said.

When they entered the apartment, officers found the fatally wounded woman and detained a man who was inside, police said.

Todd, who is being held without bail, will next appear in front of a judge Tuesday morning, Las Vegas Justice Court records show.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name.
