Hyatt Hotels Corp. plans to remodel the Rio’s roughly 2,500 rooms and rebrand the off-Strip resort under the Hyatt brand.

The Rio’s gaming, retail, restaurant, spa and pool areas will also be redeveloped, the company said in a news release, though no details or timeline were offered.

One of the Rio’s hotel towers will become a 1,500-room Hyatt Regency hotel. But the The Rio name will also be retained, officials said.

“We know Las Vegas is an important destination for our guests,” Kimo Bertram, Hyatt’s vice president of real estate and development, said in a statement. “This project is a significant step for Hyatt as we continue to grow our brands in markets that matter most to our loyal travelers.”

An affiliate of Dreamscape Companies LLC, a real estate development firm, bought the Rio from Caesars Entertainment in 2019 for just over $500 million. As part of that agreement, Caesars agreed to operate the resort for at least two years.
