NHP: 3 dead in Saturday crash on US 95 near Scotty’s Junction

Two adults and a girl from Idaho were killed in a head-on crash Saturday near Scotty’s Junction on U.S. 95, about 150 miles northwest from Las Vegas, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Two other children were taken to University Medical Center, one of whom suffered life-threatening injuries, the patrol said.

Shortly before 4 p.m., the driver of a tan Ford F-150 heading north “partially” veered into wrong-way traffic for “unknown reasons,” smashing into a Toyota Highlander occupied by two adults and three children from Victor, Idaho, the patrol said.

The Toyota rolled over on the shoulder, the patrol said. The pickup truck’s driver, a man from Tolleson, Ariz., who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, also was taken to UMC in serious condition.

The three crash victims died at the scene, the patrol said.

Inside the Toyota, only the man driving and a boy, who was in stable condition, were wearing seat belts, the patrol said.

Impairment was suspected in the crash, the patrol said. It did not offer additional details.
