The Silver Knights will have a new home in 2022, and as of today that home has a new name.

The Silver Knights, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Golden Knights, announced the under-construction arena in Henderson will be called the Dollar Loan Center as part of a naming-rights agreement with the company of the same name.

The building, formerly called the Henderson Event Center, will also house the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame and host community events.

“This is probably the best arena, or one of the very, very best arenas in the AHL, so it gives our guys a real sense of place,” owner Bill Foley said. “They’re here and they’re playing in their home arena in Henderson, because Henderson is home for the Silver Knights.”

The 6,000-seat venue is set to open for the 2022 season and is at the site of the former Henderson Pavilion on South Green Valley Parkway. Construction was approved last year.

The Silver Knights practice facility and headquarters is at Lifeguard Arena in downtown Henderson. The team, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Golden Knights, now plays its home games at the Orleans Arena.

The Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame began in 1997 and, including the Class of 2021, will have 116 members, including the 2017-18 inaugural Golden Knights.

The Hall of Fame was previously located at Findlay Toyota in east Henderson. And while that has served the institution well, 2019 inductee and board of trustees member Steve Stallworth said having a prominent, visible location is deserving of the Hall.

“We just could not be more happy to have a permanent home and display the legacies of our past inductees and really have a showcase for our future inductees to know that there will be a permanent location,” Stallworth said. “There’s some 12-year-old kid out there playing Little League walking through that Hall of Fame and one day they’ll be inducted in that Hall of Fame.”
