Las Vegas is getting an Indoor Football League franchise that will start play next year at the under-construction Dollar Loan Center arena in Henderson, team officials said.
Bill Foley, who owns the Vegas Golden Knights and Henderson Silver Knights, purchased the franchise with Dollar Loan Center founder and CEO Chuck Brennan, officials said.
Details, including the team’s name, logo and ticket pricing, will be announced later, though the team is already taking $50 deposits for season ticket packages.
The expansion franchise, which will play at the 6,000-seat multipurpose venue on Green Valley Parkway, will be the IFL’s 18th team. The Henderson Silver Knights will also play at the Dollar Loan Center arena.
IFL teams will play a 16-game schedule this year, with each team having eight home games and eight road games.
Las Vegas will join teams such as the Arizona Rattlers, Iowa Barnstormers, Green Bay Blizzard and Sioux Falls Storm.
The Indoor Football League started play in 2009 after a merger between the United Indoor Football League and the Intense Football League. It is the longest continuously running indoor football league.
