10 residents displaced after central Vegas apartment fire

A blaze at a central Las Vegas apartment complex Wednesday afternoon didn’t injure anyone but displaced 10 residents and caused about $500,000 in damage, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue said.

Firefighters responded about 3:15 p.m. to the complex at 2700 South Valley View Boulevard, south of Sahara Avenue, officials said.

The intensity of the flames in two apartments prompted officials to declare it a two-alarm fire, ordering more units to respond to the scene, officials said.

The fire, which were reported by a maintenance worker, was extinguished in about 45 minutes, said officials, noting that the flames and the water “heavily damaged” an apartment building.

Officials said the flames were sparked in a breezeway outside two second-floor units. The flames entered the apartments and continued into an attic space.
