A screen grab of a Metro Police video shows the arrest of 27-year-old Terrell Rhodes Tuesday, May 11, 2021. Rhodes is accused of killing his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son, Amari Nicholson, who was reported missing on May 5.

The arraignment for new charges for a Las Vegas man accused of killing his girlfriend's 2-year-old son has been postponed.

KLAS-TV reports that 27-year-old Terrell Rhodes, who is already charged with murder, was due to appear in court Monday.

The new counts included resisting a public officer with a firearm and four charges of assault on a protected person with a deadly weapon.

It was not immediately known if Rhodes had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.

The arraignment will now take place June 1.

Amari Nicholson, 2, vanished from the Emerald Suites apartments on Paradise Road on May 5. Police were called to the location twice that day by Amari’s mother, Tayler Nicholson, who wasn’t there. She said her Rhodes told her a woman showed up that morning at the couple’s apartment and took Amari after saying she had permission.

Family, volunteers and police searched for the boy for several days.

In court documents, investigators say Rhodes eventually confessed to fatally beating Amari after the toddler urinated in his pants the day he was reported missing.
