LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Don’t lose focus on holiday spirit

Arleigh Rodgers’ Nov. 21 article, “A house divided? Vegas families grapple with navigating vaccine statuses of relatives at Thanksgiving,” focused on a dilemma facing families and others at social gatherings this holiday season — vaccinated and unvaccinated people interacting in close proximity.

To respect each and every individual’s choice regarding vaccination, the best solution may be to simply ask for the unvaccinated to obtain a negative COVID-19 test before the get-together. This way, everyone’s safety and health concerns will be addressed, without imposing vaccinations on those with valid misgivings.

We must all remember that this is the season for compassion, forgiveness and love for your fellow man. In this spirit, let us try to be more sympathetic and tolerant toward those whose opinions and values differ from ours.

Most important, let us be joyous in celebrating the season with friends and loved ones.
