Metro: Driver killed in northeast Las Vegas crash

A 40-year-old Las Vegas driver died in a crash Friday that split their car “into two parts,” according to Metro Police.

The crash occurred at 11:50 p.m. at the intersection of North Hollywood Boulevard and Turtle Hill Road, police said in a release.

Evidence at the scene indicated that a burgundy 2006 Chrysler 300 was traveling south on Hollywood “at a high rate of speed” before losing control just north of Turtle Hill.

The Chrysler began to rotate counterclockwise and slid into the southeast crossing of the northbound lanes on Hollywood before it struck a large utility pole on the west side of Hollywood, police said. The collision caused the car to split into two parts, and the driver — who was not identified — was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details were released, and the crash remains under investigation, police said.
