Robbery suspect arrested after barricade at bank, police say

A bank robbery suspect was taken into custody Tuesday after causing a barricade situation in the 1100 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South, near Charleston Boulevard, police said.

Metro Police dispatch received a call at about noon of a robbery in progress at the bank, Lt. Joe Lepore said. Upon arrival, officers created a perimeter around the building and was receiving “real-time information” from somebody inside the bank, he said.

The person walked into the bank and approached the teller, who assumed “a robbery was taking place,” Lepore said. All customers had fled by the time police arrived, leaving the only people inside employees and the suspect. A description of the suspect was not given.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident shortly after the arrival of a SWAT unit at about 1 p.m., Lepore said. No injuries were reported.

The matter is being investigated by Metro’s robbery section, Lepore said. No further details were released.
