Best Bets: Sting, Branford Marsalis, John Caparulo and more for your Las Vegas weekend

Sting

Martin Kierszenbaum

Sting is set to debut his delayed Colosseum residency.

Halloween weekend provides plenty of parties around town in nightclubs and bars, but it’s also the last time in 2021 you can see Lady Gaga’s “Jazz & Piano” residency show at Dolby Live at Park Theater. She wraps up her run with performances on Saturday and Sunday, but there’s another huge headlining show opening this weekend at Caesars Palace and plenty of other music and comedy offerings available.

ORIGINAL CHAOS A hard-rocking super group created during the pandemic from members of different Strip production shows, Original Chaos has been making an impact at various venues around the Vegas Valley. Tonight the band charges into the Railhead at Boulder Station to perform a tribute to Guns N’ Roses. October 29, stationcasinoslive.com.

BRANFORD MARSALIS One of the most influential sax players and composers in jazz and contemporary music in general lands at Myron’s at the Smith Center this weekend for two shows as the Branford Marsalis quartet, which includes Joey Calderazzo on piano, Eric Revis on bass and Justin Faulkner on drums. STING The former Police frontman and 17-time Grammy winner was supposed to launch his “My Songs” headlining residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace last spring. Fortunately for Las Vegas, Stick stuck around and is ready to take the stage, and all of those hits from the various stages of his storied career are expected to play their part in “My Songs.” October 29-30, caesars.com.

LIONEL RICHIE Another legendary hitmaker returns to his Vegas gig this weekend as Lionel Richie takes to the stage at Encore Theater at Wynn for a Friday night concert. He’ll be back November 3, 5 and 6. October 29, wynnlasvegas.com.

JOHN CAPARULO This comic everyman was making waves with his own show at Harrah’s before COVID paused everything. Then Caparulo performed a monthly show at the Space just off the Strip. Now he’s onstage in Summerlin as part of the Bonkerz Comedy series in the Red Rock Resort’s cozy Rocks Lounge on Saturday night. October 30, stationcasinoslive.com.

PINK TALKING FISH Phish returns to Las Vegas for another Halloween weekend takeover at MGM Grand Garden Arena, but if you can’t score tickets to one of those shows, you can get your jam-band fix at 24 Oxford at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. A fusion of Pink Floyd, Talking Heads and Phis, Pink Talking Fish will distribute all the sounds you need and then some, plus special guest Joel Cummins from Umphrey’s McGee.
