Members of the Bonanza High School football team are pictured during the Las Vegas Sun’s high school football media day at the Red Rock Resort on August 3rd, 2021. They include, from left, Edward Jackson, Jacob Ah Mook Sang and Clarence Currin.

Jacob Ahmooksang had an interception return for a touchdown and also caught a touchdown pass today for the Bonanza football team in a 30-0 win over Sunrise Mountain.

Bonanza, because of COVID protocols, has only had a handful of practices in the initial five weeks of the season. Tonight, it finally played a home game.

And, more important: the Bengals (1-2 overall) won their first game.

“There was a lot of good energy in the building tonight,” Bonanza coach Keith Jones said. “The kids were pumped up and excited to play. It’s week to week for us. We are going to keep fighting.”

Gio Makekau had a fumble return for a touchdown, Jayden Price threw a touchdown pass, and Broderick Wiggins had an interception. Bonanza forced five turnovers.
