Man arrested after bow and arrow incident in Las Vegas on I-515 last week

A man was arrested after an alleged incident on I-515 involving a bow and arrow that resulted in serious injuries to a motorcycle rider, according to a news release from the Nevada State Police.

On April 8 at around 6:45 p.m., in the area of I-515 South and Sunset Road, a trooper reported that several motorists had pulled over to the shoulder to render aid to a biker who was on the ground and appeared to have serious injuries, the release said. Witnesses on the scene said the crash occurred after a driver in an Acura who was driving recklessly and struck the motorcycle from the rear.

The trooper advised dispatch that he could see a passenger car just south of his location stopped in a travel lane. Witnesses on scene said the adult male driver had fled from the car armed with a bow and arrow and was shooting at passing vehicles, according to the release.

With assistance from the Henderson Police Department, state police were able to locate the suspected driver, identified at Ronnie Macias. The release said he was allegedly still armed with the bow and arrow, but he listened to commands to put the weapon down and was taken into custody without incident. He was then transported to Clark County Detention Center, where he was booked on multiple charges, including 1st-degree attempted murder with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence.

The motorcycle rider was transported to Sunrise Hospital in critical condition but is expected to live, according to the release.

An investigation is ongoing.
