Vegas Golden Knights right wing Keegan Kolesar (55) skates against the New Jersey Devils during the first period of an NHL hockey game at T-Mobile Arena Monday, April 18, 2022.

The Golden Knights have signed fourth-line wing Keegan Kolesar to a three-year contract extension, the team announced Friday night, avoiding an arbitration hearing that had been set for the restricted free agent next week.

Kolesar's new deal carries a cap hit of $1.4 million. Having been with Vegas since its inception, Kolesar will stay with the Golden Knights through the 2024-25 season.

The 25-year-old forward played a career-high 77 games last season and finished with 24 points (seven goals, 17 assists). Kolesar, who was arbitration eligible, had been scheduled to have a hearing Wednesday.

With Kolesar now signed, the Golden Knights can exceed the cap by just over $5 million once the long-term injured reserve aspect comes into play with Shea Weber's contract. Forward Nicolas Roy and defenseman Nicolas Hague are the biggest names left unsigned with training camp starting in six weeks.

As of now, no further progress has been made on either Roy or Hague. The Golden Knights chose to skip arbitration with Roy, while Hague was not eligible for a hearing. A holdout could still be possible, but there isn't any indication yet that it might get that far.
