Human remains found in car trunk at central Las Vegas apartment complex

Metro Police is asking for the public's help after human remains were discovered in the trunk of a car sitting in a south-central valley apartment parking lot, homicide Lt. Jason Johansson said.

Police received a call about 1:45 p.m. Friday describing a suspicious white BMW car sitting in the parking lot of an apartment complex near Tropicana Avenue and Valley View Boulevard, Johansson said. The person calling police noted the car had a foul odor emanating from it, he said.

Responding officers approached the vehicle and observed the odor to likely be decomposing human remains, Johansson said. Based off that, officers made entry to the vehicle and located a body in the trunk.

The body's condition showed clear signs a homicide had occurred, Johansson said, but no further detail was provided. The victim will be identified and the cause and manner of death will be provided by the Clark County Coroner's Office at a later date.
