UNLV Rebels guard Bryce Hamilton (13) is introduced prior to a game against the Boise State Broncos at the Thomas & Mack Center Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022.

UNLV players picked up a couple of postseason honors on Monday, as Bryce Hamilton was named to the All-Mountain West first team and Donovan Williams was selected the league’s Sixth Man of the Year.

Hamilton finished third in the voting for MWC Player of the Year. Colorado State forward David Roddy took that award with 161 points, and Fresno State center Orlando Robinson came in second with 132 points. Hamilton accumulated 131 points, tied with Wyoming center Graham Ike. Those four players and Wyoming guard Hunter Maldonado comprised the All-MWC First Team.

The voting was conducted by the media and is separate from the conference’s official postseason awards; the MWC coaches vote on those awards, which will be announced later this week.

Hamilton led the Mountain West in scoring at 24.1 points per game in conference play. He knocked down 42.3% of his shots and made 36.9% of his 3-point attempts while also posting 5.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists. He topped the 30-point mark six times, topped by a 42-point explosion at Colorado State on Jan. 28, and averaged 21.8 points for the season.

Roddy averaged 19.1 points in MWC play and led the league in offensive efficiency, shooting 56.6% from the floor and 45.9% from long distance. Roddy also grabbed 7.6 rebounds and dished out 3.1 assists.

Roddy received eight of 11 votes for Player of the Year; Hamilton received one vote, as did Ike and Boise State guard Abu Kigab.

Williams, a junior transfer from Texas, started six of 13 Mountain West games, battling through injury to post 12.3 points and 2.6 rebounds in 21.2 minutes per contest. He led UNLV in 3-point accuracy at 45.2%.

The All-MWC second team is comprised of San Diego State guard Matt Bradley, Kigab, Utah State forward Justin Bean, Boise State guard Marcus Shaver and Colorado State guard Isaiah Stevens.

The third team was UNR guard Grant Sherfield, New Mexico guard Jamal Mashburn Jr., San Diego State center Nathan Mensah, New Mexico guard Jaelen House and UNR guard Desmond Cambridge.

No other UNLV players received votes.

Boise State’s Leon Rice was honored as Coach of the Year, Bradley was named Newcomer of the Year and Mensah took home Defensive Player of the Year. Boise State forward Tyson Degenhart earned Freshman of the Year.
