Many Raiders’ fans wildest dream all offseason was the team finding a way to acquire All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams.

Las Vegas pulled it off this afternoon, trading with the Packers for arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL in exchange for their first two picks in the upcoming NFL Draft. ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news.

Even the most optimistic Las Vegas fan had to admit Adams coming to the desert looked like a pipe dream as recently as earlier this week. Green Bay placed the franchise tag on the five-time Pro Bowler and was expected to find a way to keep him alongside longtime quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who called Adams the “best player I’ve ever played with” earlier this year.

But Adams reportedly turned down an offer from the Packers that would have made him the highest-paid wide receiver of all-time this week. Contract details of Adams’ deal with the Raiders were not immediately available, but expected to be in the range of $28 million per year.

Las Vegas had been cutting costs and restructuring contracts over the last two weeks, and it’s now become evident why. The Raiders needed to make room under the salary cap to accommodate a player of Adams’ caliber.

His arrival also almost certainly means that quarterback Derek Carr will stay put. Carr has called Adams a “best friend” dating back to their time together at Fresno State together from 2011-2014.

The two led the Bulldogs to a Mountain West Conference championship in their final season together before the Raiders took Carr with the No. 36 overall pick of the 2014 draft and the Packers selected Adams No. 53.

They’ve both put up big production professionally and stayed close. Their relationship is what started the rumors that they could reunite, rumors that now have come to fruition.
