A pregnant woman was severely injured Thursday night when she was hit by car that left the scene, according to Metro Police.

The driver, Oscar Pena, 37, was taken into custody Thursday night on DUI and hit-and-run-related counts after he was located at a nearby home, police said.

The 22-year-old pedestrian was crossing Nellis Boulevard near Harmon Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk about 9:40 p.m. when she was hit, police said. The car continued south on Nellis, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where she was in critical condition, police said.

A woman returned to the scene in the car and reported her boyfriend had been driving when the crash occurred, police said.
