Fire breaks out at Las Vegas office building

A fire broke out Thursday night at an office building in the south valley, according to Clark County Fire Department Chief John Steinbeck.

Firefighters responded about 7:50 p.m. Thursday to a blaze at a four-story office building in the 4000 block of Spencer Street, Steinbeck said in a statement.

A man in a wheelchair was in the building when the fire started, but firefighters got him out, Steinbeck said.

A sprinkler system activated and contained the fire to the fourth floor, where it started, Steinbeck said. There was heavy smoke on the fourth floor and lighter smoke on the third floor, he said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Steinbeck said.
