Las Vegas police: Man arrested after human remains found in barrel

A man was arrested Tuesday on a count of open murder after the remains of a missing person were found in a barrel, according to Metro Police.

Officers responded about 1:20 p.m. Tuesday to reports of possible human remains discovered in the area of Palm Street and East Quail Avenue, east of the Las Vegas airport, police said. The victim had been reported missing Nov. 3, police said.

Detectives identified Ryan Bentley, 43, as a suspect in the victim’s death, police said. He was arrested about 8:35 p.m. in the 7000 block of Alamosa Avenue, near U.S. 95 and Washington Avenue, police said.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name, as well as the cause and manner of death, police said.
