Junior Phoenix Jennings rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns tonight for the Legacy football team in a 42-24 victory against Centennial for the Longhorns’ first win of the season.

“We finally had a good week of practice,” Legacy coach Zach Monticelli said. “We ran the football well. We established the run and played our game.”

Ricky Sampson passed for 250 yards and three touchdowns, connecting with Dominic Oliver, Keandre Ramsey and Airamis Craven for scores. Craven accounted for 200 total yards and also had a rushing touchdown.

Legacy lost 6-0 in the season opener against Sierra Vista, and struggled to score the past two weeks against Desert Pines and Faith Lutheran. Tonight, it was a much different narrative.

“We needed that one,” Monticelli said.
