A former football coach at Sierra Vista High School was arrested Thursday on charges related to obtaining money under false pretense, theft and grand larceny, Clark County School District police say.

Roy Goodell, 48, was most recently listed as an assistant principal at Silverado High School as of September, according to CCSD phone records.

He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Thursday.

District police began an investigation into Goodell’s activities in March at Sierra Vista, where he was the football coach at the time, CCSD Police Department spokesman Lt. Bryan Zink said.

Goodell has been employed by the school district since 2002, police say, and was assigned to work from home during the investigation.

Public salary records show he has taught health, history and physical education in CCSD schools.
