Man crossing Las Vegas street is hit by truck, dies

A man crossing a Las Vegas street Thursday night was hit by a pickup truck and later died at a hospital, according to Metro Police.

The incident happened about 8:40 p.m. at North Nellis Boulevard and East Bonanza Road, police said.

The truck was headed south on Nellis, approaching a green traffic signal, when the pedestrian, crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk, crossed into the vehicle’s path and was struck, police said.

The pedestrian, a 39-year-old Las Vegas man, was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, police said. His name was not released, pending notification of family members, police said.

The driver, a 36-year-old Las Vegas woman, was not injured and showed no signs for impairment, police said. A 15-year-old girl in the truck was also uninsured, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
