Elyzabeth Diaga in “Queens of Rock”

Queens of Rock” was easily one of the best new shows to land in Las Vegas in recent years, building a strong following during its run on the Strip at the former Mosaic Theater. Now the classic rock extravaganza anchored by the powerful performance of singer Elyzabeth Diaga is back, set for a March 20 arrival at the Orleans Showroom. Initial performances are set for 9 p.m. March 20-25 and more shows will be announced soon, with tickets available at queensofrocklv.com. “We were very touched by the numerous messages we have been receiving from fans … during our unexpected pause as our original theater shut down last July,” producer Gilles Beaulieu said in a statement. “People were essentially asking us when we will return … We are really looking forward to taking them back through memory lane with these fabulous iconic rock songs performed with such energy and passion by Elyzabeth and our first-class spectacular rock band.”

Also coming back to a great showroom just off the Strip: Michael Carbonaro, the unorthodox magician who filled in for Penn & Teller when the dynamic duo went on tour last summer. He’s back at their venue for six weeks at the Rio with a new show that starts on May 25. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Thursday through Sunday and tickets, starting at $59, are available via Ticketmaster.

Here are your other entertainment event announcements this week: veteran comedian Colin Quinn performs at Treasure Island Theatre on March 10; Miami rapper Pouya plays Brooklyn Bowl on April 13; French multi-instrumentalist and producer FKJ makes a tour stop at the Theater at Virgin on April 16; British rock legends The Sisters of Mercy will be onstage at Brooklyn Bowl on May 14 for their first headlining show in the U.S. since 2008; pop artist Quinn CXII returns to the Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan on May 26; funnyman Russell Peters makes his long-awaited return to Encore Theater on June 16; jazz singer Diana Krall is on the road again and her tour includes a stop at the Smith Center on July 20; country star Trace Adkins plays the Sunset Station Amphitheater on July 28; pop group Big Time Rush takes over the MGM Grand Garden Arena on August 12; Van Morrison returns to the Las Vegas Strip with a three-show run at Zappos Theater September 6-9; and the stand-up comedy festival Skankfest will take over Notoriety Live on September 29 through October 1.

Singer and burlesque artist Melody Sweets is unleashing her latest project on Valentine’s Day, a six-episode web series called “Sweets’ Spot” that finds her baking and hanging out with her Vegas celebrity and entertainment friends. Created by Sweets, Melissa King-Jules and Anaïs Thomassian (aka Penny Pibbets from “Absinthe”) — and described as “a sexy Martha Stewart living in a naughty Pee-Wee’s Playhouse" — the series debut on February 14 features special guests Sabina Kelley, Honey Honeysuckle, Skye Dee Miles, actress Kasey Wilson and more. Sweets, who you may have seen most recently gracing the cover of Las Vegas Weekly’s special holiday cookbook issue, has been baking decadent treats for years when not onstage, and we can’t wait to see what she’s cooked up this time. “Sweets’ Spot” premieres on YouTube.com/SweetsSpotTV and the spicy uncensored version will be available to rent or buy at SweetsSpotTV.com.
