Las Vegas man sentenced for death from distributing fentanyl

A Las Vegas man was sentenced to prison this week for distributing counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl that resulted in the death of another person, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada.

Gabriel Ulloa, 30, pleaded guilty in May 2022 to distribution of a controlled substance and was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Richard F. Boulware II to 10 years in prison followed by 15 years of supervised release.

In June 2020, Ulloa willfully sold three counterfeit M-30 oxycodone pills containing fentanyl, a synthetic opioid 50 times more potent than heroin, the attorney’s office said. A 27-year-old man died as a result of ingesting the fentanyl-laced pills.

The case was part of Southern Nevada’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas program, and was investigated by the DEA, HIS, the Metro Police’s Narcotics Crimes Bureau, Overdose Response Team and Henderson Police.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimberly Sokolich prosecuted the case.
