Metro: 1 dead, 6 injured in southeast Las Vegas crash

A Las Vegas man died Saturday after he drove a sedan into oncoming traffic and collided with an SUV, according to Metro Police.

The sedan had been traveling southbound on Cabana Drive near Desert Inn Road about 12:40 p.m., when “for unknown reasons” it entered the northbound travel lane and collided with an oncoming SUV, causing “major damage” to both vehicles, police said.

The 57-year-old driver of the sedan was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he was eventually pronounced dead.

The 41-year-old driver and six passengers of the SUV, including five juveniles, were all taken to the hospital with minor injuries and for further medical treatment.

The collision remains under investigation. Impairment is not believed to be a factor, police said.
