LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

30% sales tax is unaffordable

People better wake up and listen to what is going on in the House of Representatives.

The latest thing that the Republicans in control of the House want to do is eliminate the IRS and replace it with a 30% sales tax on every thing we buy.

They are taking care of their wealthy donors. Those people don’t care about the sales tax like the working class, who struggle day to day just to exist.

Being disabled and retired, I cannot afford a sales tax increase of that size. There are eight people living in this house because the moms of our grandchildren cannot afford the rent and food bills that are the result of the inflation that has gripped this nation. With that many in the house, utilities are high and the food bill is not much better, and they want to impose a 30% sales tax?

I say no way. Let those representatives live on disability benefits.

As time goes by and you hear who House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is appointing to committees, they are all the names that have been in the news, such as Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert — all radicals who want these crazy things that will hurt the middle class and make their donors richer.

Wake up, America, rein in these people and get some realistic things passed.
