OMAHA, NE — With sellout crowds and unprecedented buzz in their hometown, the Omaha Nighthawks have been the big story of the United Football League season. But the Las Vegas Locomotives showed Thursday why the defending UFL champions are still the league's main force to be reckoned with.
On a typical windy Las Vegas fall afternoon, Steven Hauschka’s game-winning field goal Saturday for the Las Vegas Locomotives football team was easier said than done. The distance of the 53-yard attempt was only half the battle.

Las Vegas Locomotives cornerback Isaiah Trufant has arguably made the two most significant defensive plays in the history of the United Football League. Last year, Trufant set up the Locos game-winning field goal in overtime of the UFL Championship with an interception. But Fassel also said he planned to scout around and see if there were any other signal callers he was more interested in.
