Lake Mead Recreational Activities

Boasting around 6.3 million visitors in 2012, the Lake Mead National Recreation Area is the fifth most visited location in the U.S. National Park System. The reservoir that became Lake Mead was created by the completion of the Hoover Dam in 1936, and the lake’s vicinity became the country’s first national recreation area in 1964.
