‘Blood Moon’ Eclipse
Tue, Apr 15, 2014 (1:10 p.m.)
Most of the Western Hemisphere was treated to the year’s first lunar eclipse Monday, April 14, 2014. Due to the Earth’s reflected light from all the sunsets and sunrises across the globe, the moon, once completely in the Earth’s shadow, turns into the “blood moon” or glows with a reddish hue instead of going completely black.
