At least he's consistent.
Each time Jim Gibbons has his back against the wall, he makes a wild political suggestion that sounds good to the far right and nonsense to everyone else.
Cut funding to education and count on people who will be standing in longer lines at the DMV to buy gift certificates that will then fund teacher salaries.
Seriously.
Holy Moley. Jim Gibbons has finally lost it. HE WANTS TO PAY SCHOOLTEACHERS THROUGH CHARITY OFFERED BY PEOPLE WAITING AT THE DMV!!!
Anyone who wants to vote for this guy after tonight needs to be taken to be evaluated for involuntary commitment.
Oh, wait, no...Gibbons already cut the finding for that....
What a disgrace. We have an incompetent Governor and a drunk Mayor. Speaks volumes about us voters.
I didn't vote for Gibbons. I don't particularly like Gibbons. I am not a Republican, however...
Gibbons was absolutely correct on almost every single issue. He didn't get one point wrong with the exception of saying that Nevada has any beneficial economic future in alternative energy - that farce is a total joke that the democrats have been pushing for years.
As for the other reader comment about allowing people to donate to teachers, what the hell is wrong with that? I would consider donating money if I knew it was going directly to teachers and not down the CCSD toilet for lobbyists and administrators and to pad the pockets of the CCSD's preferred fatcat vendors.
The only idiocy to tonight was the rebuttal from that idiot embarassment to any political party, Steven Horsford, who backtracked on everything he's pushed for since being installed in office. He demonstrated a clear non-understanding of how his actions have destroyed the economy, and it is clear that Horsford's lack of understanding is not limited to Handicapped Parking signs.
The fact that anyone could listen to both of tonights speeches and say (in the poll) that they don't support nearly all of Gibbons' proposals is either a moron, or a public union employee.
If you don't care anything about your kids' education, then just back the edutards at the CCSD and let them continue "business as usual" Their business is the business of making money - not educating your kids. If you're too stupid to see that, then you deserve what you get.
Definitly agreed with the education proposal. Can't continue as is. 20 years of reduced class size and no improvement. Lots of education dollars are spent on feasibilty studies vs actual classroom education. If a study says 1 teacher per 2 pupils greatly improves education success - will the districts want that and expect funding for it??
As a state worker on furlough, I find it appalling that the governor and his staff lord about their furlough and salary cuts but fail to mention their salaries were nearly doubled by the gov - so of course they can give up some and not hurt!!
Last in education, last in health care, and last in the hearts of the citizens , and last in the arms of Dawn! That is our Governor!
