Nickname: Darius Strengths: Exhibited the most solid play down low in the offseason and when practice started. He doesn’t hesitate going to the rim, and his timing on the boards is among the best on the squad. Low key and humble, he lets his play speak for itself. Saw first-hand what it takes to win a championship in junior college. Weaknesses: Hesitates, at times, which leads to fumblings and turnovers. He will yield height and weight to many teams and will have to compensate with savvy play and tight chemistry – that is still forming – with his teammates. At Midland College Helped Midland win the NJCAA national championship two seasons ago. The squad was stocked with Division-I talent. Mostly a reserve, after an early-season injury, he converted consecutive baskets during a key stretch of Midland’s title-game victory. At Missouri City (Texas) Marshall High Led the Buffaloes to a 26-4 record. Quoting “He’s unique in this day and age. A lot of people are in it for themselves, but he’s the consummate team guy who cares about winning first. He’s a special one.” - Midland College basketball coach Grant McCasland
