Nickname: O Strengths: A slick point guard whose best attribute is his confidence, which when he gets going can produce a nice mean streak. Bellfield attributes that confidence to his time at Westchester High in Los Angeles, where playing time truly had to be earned and he faced not only his city's top competition, but also quality opponents from around the country. He has no fear of attacking the rim against bigger defenders, and has a smooth outside jumper. Weaknesses: Bellfield's biggest adjustment to the college game will be on the defensive end, as is the case for most players entering Lon Kruger's system. Showing progress on that end of the floor will be the key to him prying minutes away from sophomore Tre'Von Willis. At Westchester (Calif.) High Averaged 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals while leading the Comets to a 29-5 record as a senior and appearances in the city semifinals and the state quarterfinals. Came from the same high school program which recently produced NBA players such as Amir Johnson, Trevor Ariza and Hassan Adams. Personal Played for the U.S. Select team that participated in international competition in the Albert Schweitzer Games in Germany in 2008. Has two younger sisters -- Johnisha (18) and Maya (15). If he could invite anyone in history to dinner, it would be Martin Luther King and Oscar Robertson. Quoting “He never got his due in high school. He was hurt a lot. He never hit his potential. He has work to do, but he’s willing to work hard.
