- A small fire broke out Sunday afternoon at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The fire was found after smoke was discovered at 3:52 p.m. coming through a wall, the Clark County Fire Department said.

- Communities across the Las Vegas Valley came together Tuesday to celebrate the 26th Annual National Night Out. National Night Out is a crime- and drug-prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. The event, which began in 1984, is designed to bring neighbors together, heighten awareness about crime and drug activity and strengthen neighborhood and police relations.

- Police are reopening a sidewalk in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip after investigating a suspicious package outside Caesars Palace. The sidewalk along Las Vegas Boulevard was closed at about 6 p.m. in front of Caesars Palace.

- Metro Police are looking for two men suspected of robbing a business in the northwest valley Thursday morning. Police said the men entered the business at 9:25 a.m. in the 4000 block of North Rancho Drive.
- As fireworks booths get busy, fire officials stress safety

- Fourth of July preparations have already begun for local firefighters in charge of inspecting fireworks distributors to make sure vendors are complying with county regulations. There are about 200 curbside firework-distributing stations throughout Clark County, selling products from three different companies: TNT Fireworks, Phantom Fireworks and Discount Fireworks. The stands are run by local nonprofits.
- Controlled crashes a 'hands-on lab' for investigators

- Regular visitors to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway are used to seeing the occasional car crash. The speedway didn't host a race Monday morning, but there were still plenty of collisions. The eighth annual Crash Conference gave attendees the opportunity to witness eight controlled crashes simulating real-life situations, such as one car being T-boned by another vehicle or careening into a tractor-trailer at 35 mph. North Las Vegas police officer Jim Byrne, the lead investigator for the crash investigation team, said the conference helps police officers and others reconstruct crashes in a controlled setting.
