2008 Sun Youth Forum Scholarship Recipients

Each year, a small selection of students are randomly picked to receive a $1,000 scholarship at the Sun Youth Forum. Here is a quick look at this year’s recipients:

  • Favorite part of the SYF: The best part of all this is the conference room. I actually love to see and hear all the different opinions.
  • This scholarship means: This means the world to me. I am the first to go to college in my family. I am very excited about all these new opportunities I am going to have.

  • This scholarship means: It will be a big help towards making my future successful. I plan to study in the pre-med field, which will take much effort. I appreciate the opportunity and help. Thank You!

  • College choice: I've applied to several school across the country, but I won't know where I'm going until April.
  • Favorite part of the SYF: I really enjoyed talking to my peers about topics that are important to me and our generation. It was great to hear everyone's opinions and debate about them. I ended up seeing new sides of a subject that I had not recognized before.
  • This scholarship means: College is so expensive! I often worry about how I will ever pay off school loans for a bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degree. This thousand dollars get me started on my long journey of education in vocal performance. I cannot express the amount of gratitude I have for this opportunity at the Sun Youth Forum and I want to thank the Las Vegas Sun and the Greenspun family for their generosity.

  • This scholarship means: This scholarship means everything to me. I have been applying for scholarships through fast web and other ways. Now this scholarship has given me a boost in fulfilling my dream to go to the University of San Diego and become a marine biologist.

  • This scholarship means: To me this scholarship means that maybe just maybe I can make it. It makes me want to pursue more scholarships. Plus I never win anything so this is awesome. Whoo-hoo!

  • This scholarship means: It means a lot because it shows how hard I have worked to be involved in the issues facing our society. I like that I get recognition for my hard work in school and being involved.
